Africa

I first went to Africa—Kenya and Tanzania—in 2002 working on a project to reduce the reliance on large residential institutions with Ronald Penton from the University of Stockholm. Since then I have worked as a consultant to UNICEF and NGOs in several other countries in Africa, including Nigeria, South Africa, Rwanda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Tunisia, and South Sudan.

These photographs were taken while we were working to assess and reform their child protection systems.
